The firm provides a variety of intellectual property ("IP") related services to a diverse and sophisticated group of clients. We have a reputation for providing quality patent preparation and prosecution services as well as trademark registration and prosecution services. We also render patent non-infringement and/or invalidity opinions. In addition, we provide services related to all aspects of IP transactions, including due diligence and licensing matters.
The Firm has developed an approach to drafting and prosecuting patent applications that yields valuable patents for our clients. Each of our patent attorneys has at least six years of experience in the IP field and hold at least an undergraduate degree in electrical engineering, computer engineering, or computer science. In addition to our technical expertise, our attorneys, working with our client's business and engineering professionals, consider both technical and business factors to develop highly effective patent strategies. For example, in developing a patent strategy, we evaluate the value of an invention by considering, not only the technical achievement of the invention, but a variety of factors that affect the value of the patent to the client's business. Although the Firm does not currently represent clients in litigation matters, several attorneys have prior experience in patent litigation. This patent litigation background provides a foundation to draft and prosecute patent applications with an eye on a wide range of issues important in licensing and litigating patents.
We have expertise in helping companies develop and manage their patent portfolio. This includes conducting intellectual property audits and developing strategies to identify, acquire, evaluate, protect and/or enforce key intellectual assets of our clients.
The firm also assists our clients to realize value from their patents. In this area, our representation involves analyzing products in a target industry, relative to our client's patents, to identify potential patent licensees and to develop licensing strategies. We assist in negotiating licenses for our clients by fully understanding products of a potential licensee and by developing a dialogue to effectively negotiate a license.
We also counsel our clients with regard to intellectual property claims by others. This area of our practice involves analyzing the patents of others and, if necessary, preparing formal patent opinions.
We also advise our clients on international patent strategies, and we utilize a network of foreign associates to assist in securing foreign patents in industrialized nations.
